Welcome Back

Welcome Back

Hello, I’m Robin Jacobson, minister at Trinity UC in Vernon, BC. I’m back this week after a truly wonderful 6 week break where I was blessed to conduct the wedding service for Linda and my youngest daughter, Meggan, who has married a lovely young man, our newest son-in-law Scott Knowles. That also involved us in hosting our eldest daughter, Andrea, with our other son-in-law David Krause and their two boys, our precious grandsons Benjamin and Georgi, who travelled in all the way from Stuttgart in Germany to be here for all the festivities. It’s been a wonderful time of celebrating each other – and all within this beautiful province of BC that we get to be privileged enough to call home.

I am so grateful to my ministry friends, the Revs Heather and John Burton, both well known and very loved here at Trinity. Thank you, Heather, for leading our services these past 6 Sundays. Thanks too to our music director Karen Neufeld and her team of singers and instrumentalists who led worship each Sunday and to Don Seaton with his team looking after all the projection, sound and live streaming. It’s so good to go away knowing that all is in such capable hands.

In this time, we have also known what it is to be sad as we have lost very dear people in our community both tragically as well as simply because it was their time. Our love and prayers for Christ’s comfort go to all those who are left behind. We will be celebrating these lives later in the fall.
Would you believe only 15 more Sundays to Christmas? We are about to begin our next Cultural Competency course for those wanting to develop greater reconciliation sensitivity.
We are continuing our efforts at supporting folks displaced by all of what is happening in the Ukraine currently.

Alma Jean and others have been working hard at launching our first Lots of Tots program for little ones and their carers in two weeks, and Marilyn continues to facilitate our next few Sing-A-Long parties – such fun.

We are, of course also continuing with all our many other various ministry activities such as Healing Touch, Bible Study, Prayer group, Community Pantry. Please contact Jillian in the office for more information on any of these.

While the break was good for Linda and me, please know that it’s very good to be back and I look forward to getting on with all that lies ahead. Please know too that you are always very welcome to let me know if you would like a visit, or to pop by the office for a cup of tea and a chat. I am excited to lead worship once again from this Sunday, hopefully, see you then.
